The CNJC E-Mail Patrol

The CNJC E-Mail Patrol is made up of Scouts and Scouters within the Central New Jersey Council who want to encourage communication throughout the Council via e-mail. No one is listed unless they volunteer to be included. The names and e-mail addresses of the Patrol members are listed in a Directory. The Directory is updated and sent to the members via e-mail on an irregular basis The Directory may be distributed to any Scout or Scouter in the CNJC, but may not be posted anywhere as a publicly accessible file. If e-mail is repeatedly returned, because an address is no longer valid, the member is removed from the Directory. Reasonable efforts will be made to obtain the correct data.

To ADD your data, please send a message to me that includes the following:

(1) Name,
(2) E-mail Address(es)
(3) Registered Position(s) (e.g. Scoutmaster, Den Leader, Unit Commissioner),
(4) Unit(s) (if applicable),
(5) District (can use more than one, if registered in district and council or two districts)
     CNJ = Central New Jersey Council,
     HAD = Hunterdon Arrowhead District,
     JJD = Jenny Jump District,
     JKD = Joyce Kilmer District,
     MAD = Mercer Area District,
     RBD = Raritan Bay District,
     SED = Semeos District.

To DELETE an e-mail address, please send a message to me that includes the address that you want to delete.

To REPLACE an e-mail address, please send a message to me that includes the "Old E-Mail Address" that you want to delete along with the "New E-Mail Address" that you want to add.

It is important to note that when e-mail is distributed to the entire E-Mail Patrol, the recipient list should be hidden. Following the standard protocol the first part of the "To" line show the list name. The second part shows the forwarders e-mail address. If you are not familiar with hidden distribution lists and distribution protocols, I can forward your message for you.

If you would like me to forward a message to the entire E-Mail Patrol, please compose the message exactly as you would like it to appear to your readers and send it to me and prefix your subject with "FWD TO CNJC EMP" or something similar.

Note that messages forwarded to the E-Mail Patrol are often reforwarded to additional distribution lists. Units, Districts, and other groups are encouraged to maintain their own distribution lists. Some readers may get more than one copy of a message. Based on past experience most people would prefer to get two or three copies of important information rather than zero. If you get a message that does not interest you, please feel free to use the delete button. If it is your responsibility, however, to forward information to your unit, however, please try to avoid choosing only subjects that are of interest to you. The same subject that does not interest you may be of great interest to someone else.

Yours in Scouting,
Don W.
