2007 Canoeing Power Trek Information

If you are arriving early enough you may want to park at Yards Creek and take the shuttle bus to Kittatinny Mountain on Friday night. Otherwise you can go straight to Kittatinny Mountain and then retrieve your car after dinner on Saturday night. Whichever the case, please check in with me or John Tully at the dining hall when you arrive at KMSR on Friday night.

We will camp at Kittatinny Mountain by trek to streamline Saturday morning operations. The Canoeing Trek will be in the Painted Turtle campsite just past the dining hall, where I expect we will be setting up tents on the wooden tent platforms. Breakfast will be provided on Saturday morning. You should bring a day pack containing your lunch and your boots in a dry sack, and carry 3 quarts of water for the day.

The rest of your Friday night gear (tent and sleeping bag, etc.) should be stowed in a pack or duffel bag clearly marked with your name & troop number so that you can find it after it has been shuttled back to Yards Creek for you. We expect to head down to the river from Kittatinny Mountain by bus around 7:30-8:00 AM.
